Our rainy-day fund needs donations, it’s pouring outside.
“None of us knows what’s coming – what the next big crisis will be, or what opportunities are just around the corner. Being responsive means having the ability to take quick and thoughtful action to overcome obstacles and tackle that next challenge. We need to grow donations to the Better Together Fund and get prepared to step up,” explains Leanne Hammond, executive director of the Community Foundation North Okanagan.
$23K raised for Emergency Fire Response in North Okanagan
In February, SilverStar and Bannister GM teamed up to support the community with the purchase of a new Fire Pump that will be shared between BX Swan Lake Fire Department and Silver Star Fire Department. The new pump will service the BX Swan Lake and Silver Star areas with more effective responses to wildfire emergencies.
Okanagan Charity Regatta to Set Sail June 2-4
The Vernon Yacht Club’s latest fundraising campaign is ready to set sail, with funds raised to support food security in the Okanagan. Funds from the regatta in early June will be split between United Way and Community Foundation North Okanagan

Vernon Native Housing Society - furnished suites
To ease some of the stress young people experience by aging out of the foster care system, the Vernon Native Housing Society has provided five studio apartments for youth leaving care.
The Keystone to our Ecosystems - Kingfisher Centre
Kingfisher Interpretive Centre Society (KICS) raises 50,000 Chinook Salmon annually, to help enhance salmon stocks. They also educate people of all ages about the importance of salmon in our ecosystem.
