When Min Sidhu, board member at Community Foundation of the North Okanagan was recruited to sit on the Fund Development team and heard about the Foundation’s plan to launch a 3 year campaign she was quick to jump right in. She was intrigued by the concept that philanthropy should be accessible to EVERYONE. If the saying is that many hands make light work, then perhaps many pockets would make quick fundraising. And so Women to the Power of Ten was created. Min approached 10 of her favourite women to come together and start an endowment fund that none of them would be likely to start on her own. When they say the whole is greater than the sum of its parts they were right! This knock out group of women has set the bar high, and would like to challenge other groups to band together and pool their funds. A ‘named’ Smart & Caring Community Fund can be started with as little as $1000 a year for 5 years… Women to the Power of Ten has pledged to reach $50,000 in 5 years!
