Sustainable Development Goals
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals were adopted unanimously by world leaders in 2015 and serve as a blueprint for a more sustainable, equal and prosperous world. The Decade of Action launched in 2020, calls for accelerated action to ensure the Goals are achieved by 2030.
Ten years to transform our world.
With just 10 years to go, an ambitious global effort is underway to deliver the 2030 promise—by mobilizing more governments, civil society, businesses and calling on all people to make the Global Goals their own.
Local action for Global good.
Canada has signed on to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at home and abroad. At the community level, the SDGs are an opportunity to focus and coordinate collective efforts to address problems beyond the community scale, such as climate change, which can only be addressed if communities and cities unite in common action.
The work of community foundations is already connected to many of the 17 SDGs, but as part of an international philanthropic movement, community foundations have an opportunity to further leverage knowledge, partners and activities in common purpose with others – connecting our efforts locally to a broader vision in order to improve the world around us.
We are pleased to present our 2020 Vital Signs Report, which relates key local issues to the Global SDGs and features organizations and programs that are moving the SDGs forward in the North Okanagan region.
